April 2011 Postage Increase

The USPS announced a postage increase that will take effect on April 17, 2011. The increase is limited to the Consumer Price Index cap of 1.7% that was determined with the Postal Law of 2006. First Class postage will remain at $0.44. However, both First Class and Standard mail presort will see an average rate increase of 1.8%.
Other rate changes announced:
- Postcard rate will increase from 28 cents to 29 cents
- First Class Mail surcharge for mail over 1 ounce will increase from 17 cents to 20 cents
- First Class Flat-sized mailing will increase by 5.3%
- Saturation mail price increases will vary from .4% to .6%
